TVPilot is built by MarkWare LLC. This policy explains what the app does and doesn't do with your information — in plain language.
The short version
TVPilot has no account and no sign-in. It doesn't know who you are by name. It does show ads and offer an in-app purchase to remove them, both through third-party services described below.
What's stored, and where
Your titles, ratings, custom rules, and watch history are stored on your device. On iOS, if you have iCloud enabled, that same data is also synced privately through your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. On Android, that data is backed up through your Google account via Android's built-in Auto Backup. In both cases, this is a private sync tied to your own device backup, not something TVPilot's servers see or store.
Searching for titles
When you search for a movie, show, or person, TVPilot sends your search text to a small backend service we operate (built on Cloudflare Workers), which looks up the result from The Movie Database (TMDB) and returns it to the app. That backend does not store your searches or log them against any identifier, and exists only to keep our TMDB API key off your device. TMDB's own privacy policy governs how they handle that request on their end.
Sharing with a partner
The "Share Code" feature lets you send your rules and ratings to another person using a short code. That code is generated on your device and only travels through whatever method you choose to send it (Messages, AirDrop, copy/paste, etc.). TVPilot's backend is never involved in creating, sending, or storing share codes.
Ads
TVPilot shows interstitial ads through Unity LevelPlay, which mediates between ad networks including Google AdMob and Unity Ads. These networks may collect your device's advertising ID and other device information to select and measure ads, and may use that information across other apps. On iOS, TVPilot asks for your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any ad personalization begins. You can remove ads entirely with the one-time "Remove Ads" in-app purchase.
In-app purchases
The "Remove Ads" purchase is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. TVPilot does not see or store your payment details — that's handled entirely by Apple or Google.
Third-party services
- TMDB — This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- JustWatch — Streaming availability data is provided by JustWatch.
- Google AdMob, Unity LevelPlay, Unity Ads — Ad serving and mediation; may collect advertising identifiers and device data as described above.
- Apple / Google — iCloud sync or Android Auto Backup, the App Store or Play Store review prompt, in-app browsing, and purchase processing all use the platform's own frameworks, governed by Apple's or Google's privacy policy.
What we don't do
- We don't use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of our own.
- We don't require or collect your name, email, or any account information.
- We don't sell your data.
Children's privacy
TVPilot is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change with it. Continued use of TVPilot after an update means you accept the current version.
